On June 29th, 2019, thousands of dykes will march from Bryant Park to Washington Square Park, taking over Fifth Ave in an unforgettable demonstration of dyke power and solidarity. Now entering its 27th year, the NYC Dyke March is an annual protest march aiming to bring awareness to issues faced by dykes—and the broader LGBTQ community—worldwide. In response to growing xenophobic sentiment across the globe—and in solidarity with our LGBTQ siblings oppressed by immigration policy everywhere—the theme of this year’s march is Dykes Without Borders. Anyone who identifies as a dyke is welcome to march with us. We ask that allies support from the sidelines.
The march steps off from Bryant Park at 5 pm. The route is 1.7 miles and completely wheelchair accessible. We have wheelchairs available for those who need them, plus volunteers to push them if needed. To request a wheelchair or other disability accomodations, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The NYC Dyke March is a protest, not a parade. We do not have a police permit and we do not collaborate with the NYPD. We recruit and train volunteer marshals to keep the march running smoothly. To volunteer, visit nycdykemarch.com/become-a-marshal.
We do not have any corporate sponsors; all of our funding is raised directly from our communities. You can contribute at nycdykemarch.com.
