It's "back to school" and at our September meeting we're hosting two amazing educators / labor leaders to discuss ways of working together to bring the #RedForEd movement to NJ.
The 2018 teacher strikes that spread from West Virginia to Colorado and Arizona resulted in the most important labor victories in more than a century. The protests are continuing this year as workers are fighting for better pay, smaller classroom sizes, pensions, healthcare, public school funding, etc. They are spearheaded by grassroots teacher organizations similar to the one our guests, Dan Cummings and Kelley Anne Morris are part of -- NJ21United.
Dan Cummings has been an educator in New Jersey for over 10 years. He is a longtime activist in support of immigrant rights, worker rights, and peace. He is a proud NJ21 United member.
Kelley Anne Morris is a longtime teacher in New Jersey. She is a founding member of NJ21 United. She works with the South Jersey Anti-Privatization Coalition and is a proud union member.
Following the guest portion we'll have our general business meeting to review action plans for the month. Our Revolution will be 3 YEARS OLD - and we are launching an exciting new volunteer engagement program. Come be a part of the movement!
