Sunset Park is home to the largest working-class industrial waterfront in Brooklyn but right now it’s at risk of being transformed into a luxury playground for the rich.

Council Member Menchaca and Industry City are advancing a plan backed by a few rich corporations, Jamestown Properties, Belvedere Capital, and Angelo Gordon, that would redraw the City’s land map and rewrite land rules to newly permit large luxury retail stores and more than a million square feet of new offices and hotels in the manufacturing zone.

City officials will be at Brooklyn Borough Hall to hold a public hearing on the plan to help decide whether to approve or reject the plan.

Instead of planning the waterfront’s future with Industry City we’re asking City officials and Council Member Menchaca to plan the waterfront with and for Sunset Park residents.

Instead of centering the corporate welfare of a few in a small private contract, we’re asking Menchaca and City officials to center community welfare in a big public waterfront plan for 2030.
