On September 4, CNN is hosting a "Climate Town Hall" in Manhattan for Democratic presidential candidates to share their plans to address the climate crisis.
Join us for a spirited rally outside the event, where we'll demand they support a national ban on fracking and on all new fossil fuel infrastructure.
It's not enough for candidates to acknowledge that climate change is real. We need our next president to embrace a transition to 100 percent renewable energy, while halting fracking and fracked gas pipeline and power plants. Will you be there with us?
For now, we're assuming the town hall will be at CNN's studios near Columbus Circle, but that is unconfirmed, we'll update the location as soon as we confirm the location.
Here are the broad demands:
1. Ban fracking. Ban pipelines. Ban fossil fuel infrastructure.
2. Just transition to 100% renewable energy
3. Public power
4. Be a global leader on climate. The Paris Agreement isn’t enough.
5. Support the Green New Deal
A lot of candidates will claim to be climate leaders. We need to show them what that means. On September 4, we’re making it loud and clear: Climate leaders don’t frack.
